SharePoint 2013: Quick Info for setting up Developer VM



Objective: To setup SharePoint 2013 (Not for production) to kick start the learning of SharePoint 2013 development

1.       Setting up all in One Machine VM:

Minimum recommended services for development environments
The following are the minimum SharePoint 2013 services and service applications that are recommended for development environments:
  • App Management service application
  • Central Administration web site
  • Claims to Windows Token service (C2WTS)
  • Distributed cache service
  • Microsoft SharePoint Foundation 2013 Site and Subscription Settings service
  • Secure Store Service
  • User Profile service application (SharePoint Server 2013 only)


*Assumption:
a. You have install Window Server 2012 and patch it up with latest window updates
b. Have your own DC or joined to a DC
c. Sql Server 2012 with SP1 installed

SharePoint Foundation 2013 : FREE for SharePoint 2013
SharePoint 2013 consists of: Standard and Enterprise
SharePoint 2013 runs on 64-bit OS only.
No Client OS(e.g window 8 ) supported directly. You need to install Hyper-V for window 8 with 64-bits version so you can run 64-bit VM with SharePoint 2013.
